Ger Wolfe returns to Crane Bar

Ger Wolfe, one of Ireland’s most gifted songwriters, makes a welcome return to the city’s Crane Bar on Thursday next, March 25. This concert has been rescheduled from December 23, when icy roads prevented the Cork man from making the trip to Galway.
Ger runs his own record label ‘Raggedy Records' and has released four CDs of original music over the last 10 years, while also touring extensively both solo and with his band The New Skylarks. His songs have appeared on a number of compilations including the RTÉ TV series Other Voices and have been covered by the likes of Karan Casey, John Spillane, Fiona Kelleher and Sharon Shannon.
Ger believes in the importance of music in the community, and has worked for years teaching traditional music in schools. In spring 2009 he became writer in residence in Cork’s Gaeltacht Múscraí, collaborating with the older members of the community to produce a whole new body of work, mainly in Irish.
In the meantime, No Bird Sang, Ger's fifth CD has just been released. It was recorded and produced by well known composer and musician Peadar Ó Riada in Cúil Aodha. It sees Ger returning to the roots of his songwriting work and the songs blossom in the simplicity of the production.
This is a chance to see one of Ireland’s most gifted performers in full flight. Doors are at 9pm, tickets €15/€12 members.
