Gardaí have identifed the body of a man washed up on a Connemara beach earlier this month.

The man, who is believed to be Irish, was identified on Friday after an extensive search of the Irish missing person's database and communication with interpol.

The name of the man is not being released by Gardai at this time and it's understood other inquiries are also ongoing.

A public appeal for information was made by Gardai after the man's body was washed up on Tra Dhireann in Huston, Lettermullen on Thursday August 16th.
