GALWAY WEST TD DEFENDS DAIL ATTENDANCE RECORD

A Galway TD is defending his absence from Friday Dail sittings.
Labour Galway West TD Derek Nolan says he is better off meeting constituents and doing other business of the Dail on these days.
While he doesn't hold clinics in Galway he adds that the extra sittings are mostly taken up with private members bills.
The Friday sittings were a key plank of the Government reform package, and usually take place once in every five weeks.
A report in today's Irish Independent reveals that two-thirds of TDs are missing half of Friday Dail sittings.
Deputy Derek Nolan told Galway Bay fm News he does better work by staying away from the sittings.
Deputy Nolan says he will attend on Friday's in the future if there's something happening he can contribute to.
