Galway University student Conor Murray heads to States for internship

The Galway-based Celtic Irish American Academy has announced that Conor Murray, a Final Year Law Student at University of Galway, has been awarded a place on the Project Children Summer Work & Travel Internship Programme in the United States this Summer.
This internship programme has been operating since 1995 and continues Project Children’s decades‑long mission of cross‑community and cross‑border cultural exchange.
The internship programme has collaborated with Galway’s Celtic Irish American Academy over the last number of years and a steady stream of university students from Galway have attended the programme in the United States.
In addition, Project Children sends U.S. High School Students via The Mulcahy Scholarship to the Celtic Irish American Academy July Programme in Galway each summer.
This year's group will once again attend the Galway University Taster Day on the College Campus organised by University of Galway Global Manager Caio Muller.
The Project Children Internship Programme was created in 1995 as a natural extension of the charity’s original children’s peace initiative, providing university students with the chance to live, work and volunteer in the United States each summer.

Through this programme, students gain international work experience across sectors ranging from law and politics to engineering, medicine, non-profit work, marketing and more, while living with American host families and participating in cultural exchange.
This year's awardee, Conor Murrray is a past pupil of Saint Enda's College, Salthill and has just completed a Bachelors of Civil Law in University of Galway, which also included his Erasmus in Nice, France.
Conor will intern with the very prestigious Callinan and Smith Law Firm of NY and PA and will reside with Matthew and Michelle Smith in Honesdale, Pennsylvania.
Director of C.I.A.A. Brian Fahy said he is delighted to see this further collaboration between Celtic Irish American Academy, Project Children, The University of Galway.
“I believe that Conor Murray is going to be an excellent ambassador for Galway this summer in the United States,” Mr Fahy said.
