GALWAY T.D. REACTS TO ENABLE IRELAND GALWAY INVESTIGATION

The national certification authority, which vets people for jobs in health services, is "insufficient" according to Galway West T.D Michael D Higgins.The comments come amid revelations that Enable Ireland Galway is investigating one of its speech therapists, who was struck off the register in California.Concerns were raised about the employee by the family of a service user, who were distressed about methods she planned to use in treating their child. It then emerged the speech therapist has been struck off in the U.S in 2005During an appeal hearing in 2006, the California Attorney General's office stated it remained concerned for public safety if the Board was to re-instate the therapist's licence.Enable Ireland has confirmed that it had undertaken an investigation and that the employee in question in not currently on duty.
