Taxi users are being forced to pay the price for the lack of any traffic management plan in the city.

That's according to Galway City Fine Gael Councillor Padraig Conneely who says that taxi fares have doubled due to the ongoing traffic delays.

His comments come as Mayor of Galway Hildegarde Naughton is to hold a special meeting on traffic this evening at City Hall.

Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, Councillor Conneely says the traffic is unfair for taxi service users.
