GALWAY SINN FEIN SENATOR LAUNCHES RURAL IRELAND RECOVERY REPORT

Date Published: 14-Apr-2013
A Galway Sinn Fein Senator has launched a radical new plan to safeguard the future of rural Ireland.
Trevor O' Clochartaigh along with his counterpart Martin Ferris presented the report at the party's Ard Fheis in Mayo this weekend.
It prioritises job creation and recommends the rebalancing of the CAP and EU fishing quotas to revitalise coastal communities.
Sinn Fein also proposes to tackle infrastructural deficits and prioritise the development of the western rail corridor.
Meanwhile, satisfaction ratings for political leaders in all the main parties including Gerry Adams have dropped this month, according to a new poll out today.
The Millward Brown survey for the Sunday Independent shows Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams has dropped by five points to 23 per cent.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Labour's Eamon Gilmore have also fallen by one point each, leaving them at 25 per cent and and 16 per cent respectively.
And Fianna Fáil's Micheál Martin has slipped by a full eight points but still remains the most popular leader in the country on 28 per cent.
