GALWAY SENATOR TO APPEAL TRAIN TICKET FINE

Date Published: 14-Jul-2012
Galway Senator Fidelma Healy Eames is to appeal an on-the-spot fine which she received, for boarding a train, without a ticket.
Last Thursday, the Fine Gael Senator received a 100 euro fine, after she boarded the Galway/Dublin train at Athenry, without first purchasing a ticket.
Senator Healy Eames says she had thought she could purchase the ticket on the train, as she had previously done on recent occasions.
However Iarnród Éireann says "tickets can only be purchased on the train if the ticket office is closed and if the ticket vending machines are not in operation."
