GALWAY SENATOR DEMANDS REVERSAL OF MERLIN PARK WARD CLOSURE

A Galway Senator is demanding the Health Minister reverse her decision to close the region's only public rheumatology clinic or resign. Speaking in Claregalway yesterday, Mary Harney said the closure of the 34 bed Unit 3 at Merlin Park Hospital, was 'normal' for this time of year. But Fine Gael Senator Fidelma Healy-Eames says this statement is pathetic given the permanent nature of the closure.
