GALWAY SENATOR CONDEMNS LATEST BANKING FAILURE

Date Published: 04-Oct-2012
A Galway Senator has condemned the latest banking failure, whereby thousands of customers have had their credit histories misreported.
Speaking in the Seanad today, Senator Lorraine Higgins called for free credit reports for affected banking customers, as well as a free helpline to deal with the serious problems caused by the practice.
It was revealed yesterday that the credit histories of thousands of customers had been misreported to the Irish Credit Bureau.
The problems have occured at more than one financial institution, including Permanent TSB, with AIB being identified last August as having issues.
Senator Higgins is now calling on the banks to resolve the issue, and is looking for a response by Tuesday when she will address the Seanad again on the matter.
