GALWAY SENATOR CALLS FOR HELPLINE NUMBERS ON SCHOOL BOOKS

Galway Senator Lorraine Higgins is calling for the introduction of a special helpline to be printed on all secondary school books in a bid to address mental health issues among young people.

The Labour Senator has put her proposal before Education Minister Ruairi Quinn and requested that a policy is implemented to assist in the safety and wellbeing of teenagers.

Senator Higgins says bullying and suicide are both growing problems for teenagers and must be addressed.
