That's according to EU Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science Máire Geoghegan Quinn.
Speaking at the launch of the Galway Science and Technology Festival exhibition at NUIG, she said Galway's research and development focus provides a unique platform for future growth and jobs.
Commissioner Quinn told Galway Bay fm news that the medical devices cluster here make it an ideal location for large R&D based corporations.
