A new facility for victims of sexual abuse will be officially opened in the city this evening. (5.30pm)

The Galway rape crisis centre has been operating at their new premises in Forster Court since August.

It's three times the size of the previous site at the Claddagh, and has an extra 8 counselling rooms.

The move to the new centre is to meet an increase in demand for services.

Druid director Garry Hynes is the organisations new patron and will open the new centre in Forster Court at 5:30pm.
