Galway postman is global sensation over fifty euro face wipe!

Little did a retired Tuam postman realise that when he rummaged in his coat pocket and extracted a €50 note to wipe the rain from his brow at the Galway Races that he would be the subject of various discussion forums across the world.
Former postman Denis Sweeney from Tubberjarlath in Tuam has been described as both being frugal and a show off on many different social media sites across the world. They are even talking about him in the States.
Of course many are expressing their opinion about the motivation of what Denis did as RTE were conducting an interview with a betting analyst at the time. Suddenly Denis appeared in the background.
The RTE clip then showed Denis putting his right hand into his coat pocket and then extracting a €50 note and he then proceeded to wipe his forehead and both sides of his face which was saturated with rain. (See the clip here)
Within minutes it was up on YouTube and so far it has received more than 300,000 views as social media networks are trying to analyse why would someone wipe their face with a €50 note.
But the explanation is simple as Denis told The Connacht Tribune. “I just wanted to talk to the interviewer Brian Gleeson who had a horse running in the next race. I wanted to know its chances and as it happened it came in at 3/1 for me.
“I was saturated at the time and I just pulled out the first thing that I got my hands on which happened to be a €50 note. After taking to Brian I just went about my business.
“The following day was just ridiculous. I was approached by relations saying that I was up on YouTube which I know nothing about. I cannot even text,” Denis said.
