GALWAY MOTORISTS URGED TO DRIVE WITH CARE

Date Published: 09-Jan-2013

Motorists across the city and county are being advised to drive with extra care this morning due to foggy conditions and black ice on some rural roads.

A section of the Roscommon road about 2 kilometres outside Newbridge in Ballinasloe has now reopened following an earlier two car collision.

Nobody was injured in the incident, however motorists travelling in the area are being warned of black ice.

Forecasters say the fog and frost will gradually clear with good bright or sunny spells developing later.

Brian Farrell of the Road Safety Authority says particular care is needed on rural roads in such conditions.
