Met Eireann is forecasting a big change on the weather front

Thursday, Friday and Saturday will all see temperatures hit over the 20C mark but rain and thunder will scupper two of those days.

Today will see a good stretch of dry, uninterrupted sunshine as the dial hits maximums of 21C with humid conditions.

Thursday night will be mostly dry overall with a mix of cloud and clear spells before scattered showers develop over the west as temperatures drop to 9C.

The same cannot be said for Friday and Saturday’s weather forecast because while the dial goes over the 20C mark, it will be matched with heavy rain and thunder bursts.

Here’s what Met Eireann is saying for the rest of the week’s weather and into the weekend:

Friday weather forecast: “Another generally dry day with a mix of cloud and sunny spells with scattered showers. Later in the afternoon, cloud will start to increase again with rain and drizzle moving in over parts of southwest, west and northwest.

“Highest temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees, in light to moderate southwest winds, fresh along northwest coasts.”

Friday night: “Overnight on Friday rain and drizzle will continue to spread further eastwards, with some heavier falls over western counties. Milder than previous nights with lowest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees in mostly moderate southerly winds, fresher in coastal parts of the west.”

Saturday weather forecast: “While there is a little uncertainty in the forecast, Saturday is looking to be rather cloudy with outbreaks of rain feeding in from the southwest. Its possible that we may see some heavy and persistent falls at times with thundery downpours also possible.

“As the rain clears to the east, there is a chance of brighter spells developing further west, albeit briefly. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees in moderate to fresh southerly winds, veering westerly later. Saturday night will see a mix of cloud and clear spells as scattered showers track eastwards overnight, turning heavy at times.”
