Galway man changes rape plea after niece admits lying
Galway bay fm newsroom - A County Galway man, who pleaded guilty in January of this year to raping his niece, has been allowed to change his plea after she admitted she lied.
The girl, who is now aged 18, told gardaí that her mother made her file a complaint to gardaí and social services when she was about ten years old claiming her uncle had abused her.
Ms Justice Iseult O'Malley granted the man's application to change his plea, and adjourned the case until next week for mention.She remanded the man on bail, removed him from the sex offender's register and excused him from attending court on the next date.
