Galway man begins life behind bars for rape of two young girls in Athlone
Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Galway born man is beginning life behind bars for raping two very young girls in Athlone last September.
The 30 year old lured the girls to his flat by asking them to come and play with his shy 6 year old daughter.The girls finally managed to escape out a window.The 30 year old was later arrested - he told gardai he was drunk and high on Valium.Today after sentencing he apologised through his lawyers to the girls and their families for what he had done.Mr Justice Paul Carney said in the normal course the accused man would be entitled to a substantial discount for his early plea but he added 'unfortunately for the accused this case is too serious'.
