GALWAY LAND PRICES REMAIN STATIC

Date Published: 27-Jan-2013
Land prices in Galway and the West have remained largely static despite the downturn.
A survey on agricultural land prices shows the average price paid in the northwest and west was 7,082 euro an acre last year.
That's compared to 7,148 euro per acre for land in the same region in 2011.
However that figure is down significantly on the national average price for agricultural land across the country getting 10,856 euro an acre last year.
The survey is based on research by Knight Frank Ireland and from agricultural land sales reported in national farming newspapers.
Robert Ganly, of Knight Frank Ireland says the cheaper prices in the west reflects the issue of the productivity of the land.
