GALWAY HOSPITALS OVERSPEND BY 16 MILLION EURO

The Health Service Executive West has overspent its budget for hospitals in Galway by 16 million euro to the end of September this year.

The budget for Galway University Hospitals to the end of September was 187 million euro.

However the net expenditure for University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park Hospital for the period was 199 million euro, an overspend of around 12 million euro.

Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe also overspent during the first 9months of the year.

Its budget was 30 million euro but its net spending was 35 million.
