GALWAY HOMEOWNERS URGED TO PAY HOUSEHOLD CHARGE FOLLOWING CUT NOTIFICATION

Date Published: 23-Jul-2012
Galway County Councillors are urging homeowners to avoid any further delay in paying the 200 euro household charge.
It follows notification of cuts of up to three million euro to the local government fund as a direct result of the level of compliance with the charge.
A proposal was made by Councilor Bridie Willers and seconded by Councillor Liam Carrol at this month's meeting.
Galway County Council has a level of compliance of 56 percent, meaning cuts of up to 3 million euro and the possibility of abandoning several projects that had been in the pipeline.
