Galway farming body concerned over rural crime levels

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers' Association says a lack of community Gardaí in rural areas of County Galway is putting farmers and the elderly at risk. The organisation says criminals are aware of the time it takes for the nearest Garda station to respond to a call, and are using this to target homes. The farming body is urging farmers and residents of rural areas to sign up for a new subsidised personal alarm scheme for people over 65. Galway ICSA chairman Pat Loughnane says it's important that people feel secure in their homes. WE'LL HAVE AN SPECIAL FEATURE ON THE NEW PERSONAL ALARM SCHEME FOR THE OVER 65s ON FYI GALWAY FROM 5 THIS EVENING.
