Date Published: 15-May-2008
Vice President of the Connaught IFA Michael Silke says the Goverment must veto the cuts proposed by the EU Trade Commissioner. He believes Galway and the West could see farm revenue drop by over 400 million per year and see 1500 job losses in the food processing industry. Mr Silke says that the Government must act against Peter Mandelson's proposed cuts by stopping them with a veto. The farming leader feels this is the only way to save agriculture in the west of Ireland.
