GALWAY EAST TDs CALLED TO GATHERING ON RAISED BOGS

Date Published: 13-Jul-2012

TDs and Senators in the Galway East region are being called to attend a gathering of the local raised bog action group tonight.

The event takes place in Killimor as the group gears up to raise funds for its ongoing campaign to resume cutting at local raised bogs such as Clonmoylan, Barroughter and Ardraigue.

Campaigners say flyovers are still being directed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service to monitor any turf cutting breaches in the special areas of conservation.

The gathering takes place in Tracey's Bar in Killimor at 9.

Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, Spokesperson for the Bog Action Group Dermot Moran says the struggle to provide turf for domestic fuel continues and politicians must now listen.
