GALWAY EAST GARDA DIVISION HAS HIGH NUMBER OF CONDUCT REFERRALS

The Roscommon/Galway East Garda division had one of the highest numbers of referrals to the Garda Ombudsman relating to Garda conduct which may have resulted in the death or serious harm of a person. These are known as Section 102 referrals, and the Garda Ombudsman Office annual report for 2008 reveals that between 11 and 15 such referrals came from the Roscommon/Galway East Garda division.
