Galway donor offers support to students in direct provision
Galway Bay fm newsroom – An anonymous donor has offered to provide financial support to two school-leavers living within Galway's direct provision system. City Councillor Cathal O'Conchuir says the man from Galway has offered to provide two asylum seeker students with three thousand euro each, every year for the duration of their course. He made the offer after the Sinn Fein Cllr raised concerns that young people living in Galway under the direct provision system can't access third level education. He says in order for these students to attend college, they face fees of up to 10 thousand euro, while receiving only 19 euro per week. Cllr O'Conchuir says the man, who wishes to remain anonymous, is outraged at such unfairness.
