GALWAY CO COUNCIL PREPARES 6 YEAR DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Galway County Council are starting the preparation for the new county development plan.

It will take about 2 years and result in the publication of the new plan from 2015 to 2021.

The County development plan is the main public statement of planning policies for the local community.

It lasts for 6 years and sets out the land use, amenity and development objectives and policies for the area.

A pre-draft public consultation is now underway and an issues paper has been published to encourage debate and participation in the process.

Issues focus on the social, cultural, community, and transport aspects of the county as well as promotion of the heritage of the Gaeltacht.

The issues paper can be viewed online at www-dot-galwaycoco-dot-ie, at County Hall in the city and at certain county libraries.

Submissions can be made until the 27th of June when the planning authority will prepare a draft plan which will also be put on public display.
