LIMERICK boss John Kiely has apologised to Galway for his post-match comments after his team’s long unbeaten run was ended in Sunday’s National League tie at Pearse Stadium.

Kiely let fly with with both barrels and accused Galway players of diving and looking for soft frees on their way to a 0-26 to 1-17 victory over the All-Ireland hurling champions.

“When a player has the ball and they run at you and throw themselves on the ground and they are roaring and shouting, that’s embarrassing. That’s not part of the game.”

Kiely’s ire had been raised by a free count of 22-14 against his team, but after reviewing the game, the Limerick boss had a big change of heart.

“The bottom line is that what I thought I had seen was absolutely not the case. I wish to wholeheartedly retract those comments with regard to Galway and to apologise for them.”
