Galway man turns €2 Irish Lotto bet into €100,000

The win was described as ‘truly the stuff of dreams’
A Galway man’s life has changed forever after scooping a staggering €100,000 as well as the €2 back he used to put this large lotto bet on.
The Boylesports customer from Tuam stuck the coin on the ‘pick 5’ bet of the plus 1 draw of the Irish lotto and struck gold with it.
Liam Hawd, 53, went into his local bookies in the town to put on the five number flutter and there was a lotto shock on his face when his chosen numbers: 4, 11, 19, 29 and 30 were all drawn.
Liam, who works in packaging in Tuam, said: “I checked the numbers and said I think I have the five of them.
“I couldn’t believe it. I have three kids and they’re going through college, so it’ll be money well spent. It couldn’t have come at a better time.”
Speaking about the big win, a Boylesports spokesperson said: “Turning €2 into over €100,000 is the stuff of dreams and it truly shows how a small stake can deliver a massive return.
“It’s a real life-changer for Liam, so we send him our congratulations and hope he enjoys every moment of it.”
It’s not Boylesports’ only cause for celebration in Galway either as they cut the ribbon on their 400th shop at the Galway Races this month.
