A Galway native is to be flown home after a fatal UK accident.

Athenry local Gary Daly, who had been living in Chelmsford in Essex, died on July 4 following the accident.

His family confirmed that funeral arrangements will follow at a later date with family flowers only by request and donations if desired to Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.

His R.I.P.ie reads: “Gary will be sadly missed and cherished by his heartbroken parents, Brendan and Nuala, his brothers Keith and his wife Nicola, Gavin and his partner Sarah and his sister Sandra.

“He will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews, Aaliyah, Bronagh, Seamus, Aaron, Oisín and Ava Marie, his aunts, cousins, extended family and his many friends and colleagues throughout Ireland and the UK.”

Separately, a GoFundMe has also been organised for the e-scooter rider who was killed in a single vehicle crash in Salthill.

Saul Muniz, who was in his 40s and had worked as a barber in Fat Tony’s, spent three nights in critical condition in University Hospital Galway following the incident near Spinnaker House Hotel on Friday.

Saul sadly died in hospital on Monday afternoon with gardai appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.

Friends of Saul have launched a fundraiser with over €11,000 raised already to bring him back to his native Brazil.

They said: “It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a dear friend Saul Muniz. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

“May God bring comfort, strength, and peace to everyone who is grieving. We kindly ask for your support. The family’s wish is to bring him back to Brazil so he can be laid to rest surrounded by his loved ones. Unfortunately, the costs of transporting him are very high.”

They continued: “If you are able to donate, any amount no matter how small, it will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this fundraiser with others.

“Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers during this difficult time. Every act of support is deeply appreciated.”
