Bonham Quay set to welcome first office workers in less than three months

The first office workers to set up camp in Bonham Quay are due to arrive on site in less than three months – with Diligent Corporation confirming its plan to have operations up and running by mid-May.
Speaking to the Galway City Tribune, Diligent’s Site Lead, Ruairí Conroy, said fitters would be on site within weeks to provide the finishing touches ahead of the arrival of the company’s staff of over 200.
Diligent provides software tools, data and information to over 25,000 corporate customers across 130 countries, assisting them in a range of areas including decision-making in governance, risk, compliance and sustainability.
Their offices in Galway will serve as a European headquarters, and according to Mr Conroy, the city beat off competition from 20 other sites across the continent.
“20 locations were looked at before a decision was made on Galway. It was a very thorough investigation process but Galway won out because you have a huge talent pool within the area. It’s a multilingual city and an incredible place to live and work,” said Mr Conroy.
“Because of that, it was very attractive, and we have also established partnerships in academia with GMIT and NUIG – both incredible partners,” he said.
The talent coming out of both institutions boosted Galway’s appeal and gave it an edge over other Irish cities.
“[Before coming to Diligent], I worked for a few companies in Dublin and there is a very different atmosphere when it comes to academia and the cross-over with business.
“In Galway, whether its business or academia, we all just want the West to move forward and grow,” said Mr Conroy.
Diligent’s headquarters are in New York, with may other sites dotted around the world, but this new European HQ in Galway would provide one of the broadest services of any of its locations, he continued.
“Galway will be the most multi-functional office Diligent has in the world – various functions including customer support and service; sales; marketing; product delivery; accounts and finance; human resources; IT. We will have all these roles in Galway.
