GALWAY CITY MOST IRISH SPEAKING URBAN AREA IN IRELAND

Galway city is the most Irish speaking urban area in the country.

7 point 5 percent of people in the city speak Irish on a weekly basis outside of the education system.

That's higher than the national average in cities such as Cork, Limerick and Dublin at 4 point 3 percent.

In terms of Galway city's 3 electoral areas, city west which includes Knocknacarra, has the highest number of Irish speakers compared to city central and city east
