The government and the Galway business community must work together to ease the number of business clousures.

That's according to Galway Chamber of Commerce CEO Michael Coyle.

His comments come as figures released today show that 65 Galway companies went bust so far this year.

Data compiled by the Insolvency Journal dot ie show that February and March were the worst for Galway when a total of 24 businesses were deemed insolvent.

The figures show that June was the best month on record for Galway so far this year with only three companies going bust.

Michael Coyle says the government and business community must work together to make sure the trend improves.
