GALWAY CAR SALES INCREASE BY 15 PER CENT IN OCTOBER

Car sales in Galway for October are up 15 percent.

However overall figures for Galway to date show that new car sales are down 19 percent on 2011.

Figures released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry reveal a mixed bag for the motor industry in Galway.

51 new passenger cars were sold last month in Galway, which is an increase of 15 percent on October 2011 when just 44 cars were sold.

However, figures to date show there's been a 19 percent decrease on total car sales in Galway compared to last year.

3,116 cars have been sold to date, compared to 3,874 between January and October of last year.
