Galway airport incurred a 6 million euro loss after the government decision to end subsidies
That's according to accounts just filed, detailed in today's Irish Times
The directors' report says the management is trying to secure tenants for the hangars and finalise agreements with the local authorities for use of the car parks for park n ride
At present the airport caters only for private charter aircraft and private aircraft as there are no commercial services which forced a reduction in staff from 54 to 5
Despite this Corrib Airport Ltd directors state in the 2011 accounts that they are exploring all avenues to secure the future of the facility in Carnmore and to maintain air access into Galway
