FURTHER CUSTODY REMAND FOR POLISH RAPE ACCUSED

A 42 year - old Polish man charged with raping a woman in Connemara last May has been further remanded in custody following an appearance before Galway District Court yesterday.Gardai are still preparing a Book of Evidence for the trial.The accused's defence solicitor asked Judge Mary Fahy to dismiss the charges, if the Book was not served on his client by November 5.Judge Fahy said the charges were very serious and for that reason she would not consider dismissing the case.She remanded the accused in custody to appear before the court again on November 5 for service of the Book of Evidence, adding that she hoped it would be ready by then.
