FLOOD RESCUE IN GORT

An 87 year old woman has been rescued by Shannon coast guard after her home in Kilbeaconty became submerged by flood waters.

The alarm was raised after 11pm last night, when Fire services were unable to reach the woman.

Shannon Coast guard winched the woman to safety.

Meanwhile, two families were evacuated from their homes in Abbeyknockmoy following serious flooding in the area.
