FINAL GO AHEAD FOR BARNADERG TYRE CENTRE DESPITE OBJECTIONS

A final bid to prevent the re-location of a tyre centre to a village outside Tuam has failed.An Bord Pleanala has upheld the decision to allow Sean McGrath move his tyre centre to Barnaderg South despite objections from nearby residents.Locals from Barnaderg South lodged an appeal to An Bord Pleanala against Galway County council's decision last April to grant Sean McGrath permission to re-locate his tyre centre there.They argued the business would be an eyesore to the entrance of the village on the main Dublin road.Other grounds for appeal centred around injury to amenities, visual impact, traffic hazards and what locals call an "over-development" of the site.But An Bord Pleanala disagreed.
