FINAL FUNDS GRANTED TO OPEN NEW INNER RELIEF ROAD IN ATHENRY

The final funding allocation has come through for a new road to alleviate gridlock in Athenry. The county council has this week been given the final go-ahead to open a new stretch of road between the Ballygurrane Road and the Railway St road. Work is expected to begin within the next two months on surfacing the road. The new road will take traffic travelling through Athenry away from the town centre. Some of the proposed 1 million euro northern ring road fund will be used to finish the road.
