FILE FOR DPP OVER ILLEGAL TURF CUTTING IN CLONMOYLAN

Gardai are preparing a file for the DPP after they investigated an incident of illegal turf cutting in Clonmoylan yesterday.

The investigation was launched followed an alert from the National Parks and Wildlife Service.

Local raised bog owners have since removed turf-cutting machinery from the bog including a digger and a hopper machine.

Over 100 concerned turfcutters gathered in the raised bog yesterday, which is located about two miles outside Woodford, after Gardai arrived on the scene to prevent further cutting according to EU rules.
