Fianna Fáil’s Seamus Walsh elected Cathaoirleach of Connemara municipal district
Fianna Fáil Councillor Seamus Walsh has been elected Cathaoirleach of the new Connemara municipal district. He was chosen unanimously by the other 8 Connemara area councillors at the first meeting of the new district authority in Clifden this afternoon. Fine Gael Cllr Eileen Mannion was elected leas-Cathaoirleach and says this new authority is a boost to Connemara. During the meeting, councillors decided to rotate municipal meetings around the various towns of the Gaeltacht, and to maintain the use of Irish for those that wish to use it. The group's next meeting will be held in Carraroe on July 15th.
