Galway Bay fm newsroom - A fire in Gort overnight which claimed the lives of two people is not being treated as suspicious.
The blaze broke out at Tom O'Donnell's Flats on the Railway Road at 2.50am.
One of the deceased has been identified as a 38 year old man from the local area while initial investigations suggest the second is a woman aged in her mid sixties.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Their bodies have been removed from the flat and taken to UHG where a post mortem examination will take place today.
Garda technical experts have now completed their examination of the scene.
