FARMER FENCES IN DUMP TRUCKS IN BALLINASLOE SLUDGE ROW

Date Published: 29-Aug-2008

The Ballinasloe farmer at the centre of the standoff has gone a step further and fenced in the dump trucks belonging to the contractors involved. Padraig Clarke, who spent the night in his jeep guarding his field, has now sealed it off to stop the company N6 Construction dumping sludge in it. He's claiming he only leased it to them to accommodate top soil removal not sludge. Nine dump trucks and a digger are now fenced in. A spokesperson for N6 Construction told Galway Bay FM News, they've dispatched their Production Manager to the scene on the N6 Construction site to enter talks with the landowner. N6 Construction says they're keen to have the matter resolved amicably.
