A GALWAY family have this week made a heartfelt plea for a thief to return a dog to them, who holds a very special place in their hearts.

Abbeyknockmoy councillor, Pete Roche and his wife Bridie, had their miniature Jack Russell taken from around the house on the weekend before last, and since then no trace of him has been found.

The dog, called Tiny, holds a special place in the family’s hearts as he had a particular closeness with Pete and Bridie’s late son, Colin, who died tragically six years ago.

“This little dog really means a lot to us and we are desperate to get him back. While we know that there is a value on miniature Jack Russells, this dog doesn’t breed and he’s not of any particularly high monetary value.

“But he means an awful lot to us and especially his connection with Colin. We are appealing to, whoever has this dog, to return him to us – anonymously if they wish – and that will be the end of it.

“We’re not interested in prosecutions or taking this any further but we’d just love to get the dog back. One very distinctive thing about Tiny is that he walks or runs on three legs, after a horse stood on one of his feet when he was a puppy,” Pete Roche told the Connacht Tribune.
