EUROPEAN DECISION DUE SHORTLY ON CITY OUTER BYPASS
A decision is due from the European Court of Justice in the next few minutes in relation to the Galway City Outer Bypass.
The decision will determine the process that officials must follow if planning permission is to be secured for the project.
After An Bord Pleanála granted permission for the scheme in 2008, environmental activist, Peter Sweetman challenged the decision in the High Court.
His initial application was dismissed so then he appealed to the Supreme Court, which then asked the European Court for clarification.
A number of judgements are being read out in the court in Luxembourg at the moment, and the decision on the Galway road project is due shortly.
