The Fine Gael leader says the Taoiseach's decision to scrap the fundraising tent at the Galway races is a reflection of Brian Cowen's reservations about Fianna Fail's style of fundraising. The tent at Ballybrit has been a point of on-going criticism for the party because it regularly featured some of the country's richest property developers and builders. For 15 years it was one of the party's most high profile fundraisers, raising 160,000 euro for the party at its height. Former Finance Minister, now EU Commissioner, Charlie McCreevy says he always found attending the event to be "a pain in the arse."Brian Cowen announced his decision at last night's meeting of the party's national executive.
