Galway Bay Fm Newsroom
An empty boat with oars found drifting near Inish Turbot island resulted in an emergency search in Clifden Bay around lunchtime today.
(sunday)
But the search and rescue mission was stood down after it emerged from investigations that the boat was owned by a local man and it did not have anyone on board when it drifted from its moorings.
The coastguard helicopter was launched from Sligo and two RNLI lifeboats from Clifden as well as a coastguard team from Cleggan shortly before lunchtime today.
