Date Published: 10-May-2012

An emergency biker service that will transport blood and other medical products has been set up in the city.

'Blood Bike West' will provide the free service to the HSE West from 7pm to 7am Monday to Thursday, as well as a 24 hour service at the weekend.

The six volunteer bikers have received advanced training and will undergo regular reviews.

A bike has already been provided by Bluebird care, however the group is currently fundraising to pay for uniforms and other vital equipment.

They've already organised a Burren Bike run to take place on Sunday the 20th of May.
