EIRGRID MAY INVEST 240 MILLION IN WEST'S INFRASTRUCTURE

Eirgrid, the operator of the national electricity system, is presenting plans to the county council on investing 240 million euro on infrastructure in the west.

It's part of the grid development strategy, and has the potential to help attract foreign direct investment and create jobs in the region.

It will also facilitate the development of renewable energy and ensure a supply for companies looking to invest in Galway and the west.

Company representatives are making the presentation at county buildings this evening as they are looking for the support of the council, stakeholders and communities.
