A demonstration to highlight opposition to the construction of windfarms in Connemara takes place in the city next week. (26/11)

Residents from Moycullen, Spiddal, Furbo, Barna and Lettermuckoo will protest outside County Council buildings on Prospect Hill next Monday. (26/11)

The Knockalough community group say that so far, 103 turbines have already been granted in an 8 kilometre radius in the gateway to Connemara.

They claim that too many of these turbines are being constructed in close proximity to people's homes with little or no consultation with communities affected.

The group is also planning to object to proposals by Gaoí an Iarthair Teo to build 13 turbines in the areas of Derrynea and Lettermuckoo.

The protest is taking place at lunchtime next Monday to co-incide with the monthly meeting of the local authority.

Spokesperson for the Knockalough Community Group, Yvonne Cronin says they want councillors to really listen to their concerns surrounding wind farms
